News - Editorials from the President
January 2011
We have seen much happen in the last year. Taxes raised and lowered (only to net out a little more than you did before the new taxpayer relief bill, one of our client employee's enjoyed as much as $3.00 difference per week, and we know that will help. Maybe at McDonalds.)
The most devastating news came from Arizona, where a bright, young Congresswoman was shot and along with 17 others. This was a sick, despicable act, by a very unstable young man. While politicians and media may try to blame others, this lays only at his feet. He committed the act.
We, in America, like to find the "reason" and sometimes there isn't one. We like to lay blame and sometimes, there is only the perpetrator to blame. As many try to politicize this incident, remember that blaming the victims, the system, poverty, privilege has only brought us where we are, allowing individuals who kill and maim to use the system to free themselves again to commit other crimes. Don't give his attorneys something to blame, let's not try him in the media and give him a defense; let his trial be on the merits of the case and not supposition by all those who want to have their political views heard.
Did civility bring us here? No, it did not. A young man bent on murder brought us here.
THE MEDIA
I remember when I first stopped believing the media. I was watching a Presidential speech (one of Reagan's) and the media followed with their "take". They began to "explain" what we had just heard, twisting and changing the words that this honorable and articulate man had just spoken. I was disgusted by their "interpretation" and their condescension. Was I not able to understand what I had heard? Was I so stupid, that some ultra liberal must explain it to me?
I haven't believed them since. I doubt first what they say, then try to confirm it by reading or seeing directly what the individual had to say. Take a page from my book, they aren't truthful. They don't have your best interest at heart. Ratings are the name of the game, so be aware, they are are in the entertainment industry, not what we used to call NEWS.

Hard to believe so much time has passed. Nine-Eleven forever imbedded in the minds of the world. It happened to all of us, it broke all our hearts and forever set a course of life that 10 years ago, we could never imagine. Or could we?
Oklahoma's own tragedy, one that I witnessed first hand, brought us to our knees and reminded us again, that God is the only one in power. That the evil of men can never take away what is in our hearts, what makes up our souls. God was with me that day, and many rose up on the wings of Angels and left us. it broke our hearts and brought us to our knees.
I remember standing inside my office watching TV that September day, and thinking NOT AGAIN, how can this be happening to this beautiful, generous, loving country? How can others hate us so much that they would take away our families and take their own lives in the process? I felt again the shock and the sorrow and the broken heart and it brought me to my knees. "Dear God, please take care of all those people, bless their families and help us all through this horror." As that prayer went through my mind, our lives changed forever.
Today, we are still experiencing the pain and the sorrow of Nine-Eleven, we are seeing it in our daily lives as we still are trying to patch back together an economy rocked by the acts of madmen. Politicians will use it, this economy so shaken to its core, but you can't blame President Bush and not even President Obama could have made the results of that day vanish. Bad choices may have made them worse, but you can take that moment in time and the destruction to the airline industry, the stock market, the workers compensation market and so much more and lay it right at the door of those same madmen.
After all these years, I am still amazed that they can hate us to the point that they would endanger their countries and their own families to be a part of this destructive horror in history. They cannot love as we love, they cannot believe in a true and wonderful God as we believe to send men to destroy something that they have NO right to, and no logical reason to hate.
Madmen.....they swarm the earth like voracious beasts, destroying everything in their paths. Building nothing, creating nothing, behaving as little more than animals. They come in all shapes, all sizes. We have allowed them to bully us, murder us and take away our way of life.
This anniversary remember and pray, but also be determined to take back our country and our world from the Madmen.

I guess I never thought of myself as an Economist, but lately I begin to see that that is exactly what I am (among many other things). Of course, I don't have any credentials, just common sense.
I love it when a politician says, "here are the tax cuts" with one hand "and, oh by the way, they are temporary" and then on the other hand proposes "billions of dollars in stimulus" that will cost taxpayers and increase taxes. An economist would say, the one lasts for a short period of time (and to get that tax break you have got to buy equipment or build a new structure) and once it is done, it is done, however, those taxes to support this new stimulus will last until the next group of politicians can get them off the books.
Oh and don't you love it that before the
ObamaCare plan was voted into law, that : "This legislation will ...
lower costs for families and for businesses and for the federal
government, reducing our deficit by over $1 trillion in the next two
decades," President Obama said when he signed the bill into law on
March 23. Now the word is: "We didn't think that we were going
to cover 30 million people for free" , he acknowledged that the new
law he signed in March might not bring overall costs down in the
next 10 years, but he said people's out-of-pocket costs should
shrink substantially. The reason for other costs rising, he said, is
the expansion of health insurance to more than 31 million people who
are currently uninsured. (really and who is paying for this?)
"Bending the cost curve on health care is hard to do," Obama said.
"I said at the time it wasn't going to happen tomorrow." So it
is going to cost us more? Got it, another promise that a
politician couldn't keep. Surprise, surprise! Despite promises
from President Obama, Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats that the bill
would not add a dime to the deficit.
The premise - - it's a great idea for everyone to be covered, but it is not possible and not fair to expect every tax payer (and we are shrinking as more and more people go on the state and federal dole) to fund it. Now some who could afford it will have to buy it, some who think they can't afford it will have to buy it and others, illegals and legals alike, we will be paying for it. And bankruptcy can't be far behind.
And so it goes. Elections are coming up and we will all get to make a choice. Our Choice for Change hasn't turned out to be what we thought it would be. We got change all right:
- An un-fundable Healthcare mandate
- Additional paperwork in the form of 1099's for every vendor we send money to OVER $600 (every vendor)
- A deficit that is larger than any other administration since George Washington and The U.S. deficit for fiscal year 2010 is expected to be $1.3 trillion, according to CBO that compares to a 2007 deficit of $160.7 billion and a 2008 deficit of $458.6 billion, according to data provided by the U.S. Office of Management and Budget.
- Stimulus packages that purport to have "saved" jobs while unemployment and loss of jobs as well as under-employed jobs are at an all time high
Is it failure? Would appear to me to be a overwhelming failure. And for all the Media's cries against President Bush while he was in office, they have been amazingly gentle for this President. However, as we watch, they are turning away, his own party is turning away.
Politics as usual.

As a conservative, Christian woman I am sitting here thinking about the last 10 years. We went through some of the worst times in history, came together as a country and fought back and came back. Now we are a fragmented and hurting country again. This time because of attacks within.
There has long been differences between the Democratic and Republican party. There have always been times when those differences became battles; public and ugly. But in all my life, I don't think I have ever experienced such disrespectful behavior towards others. I try to tell myself that I am only reacting because I am conservative, but the more I hear, the more I see, the more I think the Democratic party has forgotten it is a 2 party system and that both of those parties bring about change for the good. It's called a dictatorship otherwise. One party, one idea, no one else gets a voice.
But our country is better than that. All of us, Democratic and Republican need to pull together to get us out of this mess. A mess that was created long before President Bush took office, and goes right along with that 2 party system. So it's going to take both sides to stop this bleeding.
A great man said "A house divided against itself cannot stand." He was Abraham Lincoln (and a Republican) and speaking of the trying times as the country fought to end slavery. We have become a divided nation again and we desperately need another man like Abe Lincoln.
We don't need more programs, more taxes, more government control. We need to get back to basics. The government shouldn't be taking care of us. The purpose of government, our particular government, is not to run our daily lives, feed us, cloth us; it should provide reasonable services, protect our borders and our interests. This cradle to the grave nanny state that we are creating is not a good government, it will be useless in the end and will fail as all those before have failed.
On Being a Republican
How is it that Republican became a "dirty word" and vicious attacks are okay? How is it that one American can call another American names and it's okay? I'm too old, I guess. This new "normal". I hate it. I really hate it. I am proud of being an American, a Christian and yes, a Republican. That was a choice I made after I read the basis of both parties, and decided I liked and agreed with the Republican platform more than I did the Democrat. I was raised in a home full of Democrats, so it wasn't like I was never exposed to the other side. Less taxes, less government interference, now I like that. That is my right. And I should have to apologize to anyone for it, nor take a lot of lip by a Democrat for it either.
Our Borders
They are just that. Our borders. They don't belong to Mexico or Canada, they have their own laws (although it is hard to see what good Mexico's laws do, since they are in chaos and have been forever). No other country allows foreign invaders to cross its borders and just take up residence and commit crimes without some type of action.
It is an invasion. We have laws against it, and yet we are expected to sit here and just let it happen. Our own government is fighting the publics right to stand up and say "Enough!" Government agencies are refusing to do their jobs! Our own Federal Government is saying States have no right to protect their citizens from this same invasion. These Feds refuse to follow the law, they should ALL BE FIRED. They have been placed in those jobs by our money, LET'S FIRE ALL OF THEM!

As a country we are struggling, not just with jobs but in our hearts. We have a seen a devastating change away from God, away from the concepts that our country was built on. No longer is it acceptable to pray in public; no longer is a Coach encouraged to teach values and morals along with sportsmanship; no longer may a teacher use the Bible to teach little Johnny "do unto others" as Jesus taught us. We are slipping away from the greatness that brought us here to this "new world" and establishing our nation as an ungodly nation. I mourn the loss, as I would the loss of any family member. I find it sad and unbearable to hear Christians used as jokes on sitcoms; I find it sad and painful to hear prayers banned and the Bible tossed out or destroyed as President Obama's administration did in Iraq. I find it reprehensible that a Christening depicted on a TV show, left Christ out. Where did the word come from and what is it's purpose?
Are we a lost nation? A few months ago, we had a President who told us that his life was based on and around the teachings of the Bible. Now we have a President who shies away from talking about God in his leadership. No I did not vote for him, but I had hopes that he would be that fresh new face, but instead he is an old face, the one that turns his back on God and what brought this country to greatness. He and his backers are taking over our businesses, our states, our government. Will there be anything left? What future is there for our children and their children as the tax burden to pay for all of these programs come due?
I have a great fear and perhaps I am wrong. My fear is that we have seen the last of the great nation USA and the beginning of the failing nation USA.
I hoped for better. I remember seeing him on Oprah several years ago and thinking, he will run for president and doesn't he seem like a bright young man with great ideas. As I have come to know more about him, I have lost my belief in him, I have lost my faith in his ability to shed the old Democratic network and build something good and new. He has brought with him the dishonesty and fraud of Acorn, the pompousness of Kennedy and the bombastic rhetoric of Clinton. No, he is an new face with the old face just behind it.
God help our nation to find its way back to HIM.

GOD BLESS AMERICA AND MAY HE PROTECT US IN THE YEARS AHEAD!
